North Finchley Town Centre is a diverse and thriving place with exciting things for everyone to do, all year round. Supporting North Finchley:
In line with the Growth Strategy 2030, Barnet Council is fully committed to supporting North Finchley to flourish as a place for all to live, work, and enjoy.
Since 2017, the council worked with a number of key partners, residents, community organisations, and local businesses in North Finchley to look at how we can best support the town centre, allowing it to thrive even more.
As a result, in February 2018, the council published the North Finchley Town Centre Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), a planning framework which identifies place-specific opportunities for regeneration as well as local treasures that need to be supported and celebrated.
Underpinning all of the council’s work is a commitment to supporting meaningful opportunities for the community to engage at a mix of levels of involvement, to ensure that everyone who wishes is able to participate and help shape the future of North Finchley Town Centre. To find out more about ongoing projects, including opportunities to participate please see here (insert projects page link)
In line with the above commitment, the council launched a six-week public call-out in summer 2021 to invite residents, businesses and others in the area to join the North Finchley Partnership Board – a representative group of community members to oversee, monitor, scrutinise and hold to account the management of the town centre regeneration programme and to ensure that implementation of the SPD vision is upheld. The Board had its first meeting in November 2021 and will continue to meet quarterly. To find out more, please see here.
To support the identified regeneration opportunities, the council has also entered into a Land and Site Assembly Agreement with Regal JP North Finchley ltd. Find out more about the activities led by Regal JP North Finchley ltd.
